By the end of this guide, you'll have a property with a name, a country, the right currency, and the right time zone — the four things every other Cabintale feature builds on. Get these wrong and everything else (pricing, deadlines, calendar) drifts.
What you'll need
- An active Cabintale account
- ~5 minutes
- A property name guests will see in the widget
- The currency every price quote uses
- The time zone every "today" calculation respects
Step 1: Open the property
Click Places in the sidebar under Your setup, then click the property you want to edit — or Add new place if you haven't created one yet. The first panel you see is Basic information.
Step 2: Title and description
Title is required. Pick something a guest would recognize when paying — your cabin name, hotel name, or the address if neither fits. The placeholder shows "Chalet in the mountains" as inspiration. Maximum 255 characters.
Description is optional and isn't shown to guests yet — it's there for your own notes today. There's no enforced length limit, but very long descriptions can slow down the page, so keep it tight.
Step 3: Country, currency, time zone
These three fields work as a chain. Pick the country first — Cabintale auto-fills both currency and time zone to the most common pair for that country.
- Czech Republic → CZK + Europe/Prague
- Germany → EUR + Europe/Berlin
- United States → USD + America/New_York
If you want a different combination — say you're in Slovakia but you charge in EUR — just change the currency dropdown after the country auto-fills. The auto-fill is a starting point, not a lock.
Time zone matters more than you'd think. It controls when "today" begins for booking deadlines, when bookings count as same-day, and what "this week" means on manifests. If you set it to UTC and you're actually in Prague, your deadlines will be off by 1–2 hours.
Click Save at the top of the panel.
What changes elsewhere when you change these fields
| You changed | What it affects |
|---|---|
| Title | Sidebar entry, calendar headers, widget heading, manifest title |
| Country | Doesn't lock anything — but auto-fills currency and time zone if you change it |
| Currency | All future prices in admin, the widget footer ("All prices are in CZK"), payment-gateway transactions. Existing bookings keep their original currency. |
| Time zone | Booking-deadline cutoffs (calculated in the property's TZ), the "Today" marker on the calendar, manifest "today/this week" ranges. Existing booking dates aren't shifted. |
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Title field rejects on save | Empty, or longer than 255 characters | Type a name; keep it under 255 chars |
| I changed currency but old booking totals didn't update | Currency change applies to new pricing only — old bookings are frozen at their original amount | Open the booking and re-enter the price manually if you need it converted |
| "Today" on the calendar looks wrong | Browser is in a different time zone than the property | The calendar uses the property's time zone. The discrepancy is real around midnight if you're traveling — confirm the Time zone field matches the property's actual location |
| Currency dropdown only shows ISO codes (USD, CZK, EUR) — no symbols | This is by design — codes are unambiguous; symbols (kč, $) aren't | The widget footer reads "All prices are in CZK" so guests aren't confused |
| I picked Czech Republic but currency stayed USD | Auto-fill only triggers when you change the country. New places default to USD; if you opened the form and the country was already correct, the currency wasn't refreshed | Change country to anything else, then change back — currency will refresh. Or pick currency manually |
